International Women's Day

Saturday, March 8, 2025 (all day)

Popular holiday

International Women's Day is celebrated each year on March 8. This day began with the labour movement in the early 1900s, and was officially recognized by the United Nations (UN) in 1975. It is a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, and draw attention to issues concerning women's equality.

The Government of Canada’s theme for International Women’s Day (IWD) 2023 is Every Woman Counts. It’s a reminder that all women, from all ages and walks of life - including newcomers, have a place in every aspect of Canadian society, including in the economic, social and democratic spheres.
