The City of Lethbridge is run by the Mayor and a council of eight elected people called Aldermen. They are elected every three years. The municipal government (City of Lethbridge) takes care of a lot of the things that affect you every day, like:
- Property taxes
- Buses
- Recreation, e.g. pools, sports fields, skating rinks and more
- Seniors’ centres
- Garbage disposal
- Emergency services
- Business licences
- Bylaw enforcement

City of Lethbridge - Utilities
Utilities include water, electricity and natural gas. When you own a home, you must pay for what utilities you use every month. Gas and electricity can be provided by the City of Lethbridge or another utility company. Water, sewer and garbage services are provided by the city.
