Services for Newcomers and Immigrants

At Lethbridge Family Services, newcomers can access services that will help them with the immigration and settlement processes. Services include providing information about and orientation to the community of Lethbridge and Canadian society in general. Interpretation and document translation services are also available to clients. In addition, the Community Connections Volunteer program can match newcomers with Canadians. The Youth Based Services Support Program can assist immigrant students and their families within the school systems.

Who is Eligible?

Services are available to Permanent Residents of Canada, landed immigrants, convention refugees, Minister’s Permit holders, or refugee claimants approved by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. While this service is mainly for newcomers, other eligible immigrants who need help in adapting to Canadian society and integrating into the community may also qualify, regardless of how long they have been in Canada.

Eligibility

Settlement services and programs are free to all newcomers, including individuals and families who are Permanent Residents (PR) or who have received a letter of approval from Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada (IRCC). There may be some services for those who are now Canadian Citizens.

Self or community referral: An initial intake appointment is required.
